Spring Wedding at Jorgensen Farm The Gardens | Columbus Ohio Wedding Photographer

Olivia and Alex planned a wedding that centered around being outside. They chose Jorgensen Farm The Gardens in the spring for a reason. They wanted green grass under their feet, sunlight on their faces, and room to move through the day without feeling rushed.

The day started with Olivia stepping into the light to see her bridesmaids in pale yellow dresses. Later, she and Alex tucked into a quiet corner of the property to read their vows privately. Nothing about the day felt overdone. It was steady and easy, like it was unfolding the way it was meant to. The photos that stay with you are usually the ones that felt like something in the moment, not just the ones that looked beautiful.

We photograph weddings throughout Columbus and are always drawn to celebrations like this. Weddings where the setting matters, where light shapes the mood, and where the couple actually gets to be present inside it.

A Nature Forward Spring Wedding at Jorgensen Farm The Gardens

One of the reasons couples are drawn to Jorgensen Farms is how seamlessly it blends structure with nature. The Gardens side of the property feels open and organic, with tree-lined paths, flowering shrubs, and pockets of quiet that make the space feel intimate even with a large guest count.

Olivia and Alex chose the venue for exactly that reason. They wanted outdoor photos, real greenery, and a setting that felt peaceful without feeling remote. In spring, the property comes alive in a way that photographs beautifully from every angle, especially during the earlier part of the day when the light is softer and more directional.

A First Look With Bridesmaids in Bright Spring Light

Olivia wasn’t interested in a long stretch of getting ready photos. She cared more about the moment she walked outside in her dress and saw her girls for the first time.

So that’s what we did.

Instead of documenting every hanger and makeup brush, we brought everyone into the sunlight. The bridesmaids stood waiting in their pale yellow dresses, and when Olivia stepped toward them, the reaction was immediate. Laughing. Hands over mouths. A few tears.

The color against the green grass and trees felt like spring in the most literal way. Nothing staged. Just friends seeing their person on her wedding day.

Jorgensen Farm The Gardens makes this easy. You can step outside and be in beautiful light within seconds, which means moments like this don’t feel staged or squeezed into a tight timeline.

A Private First Look and Vows Tucked Away on the Property

After Olivia’s first look with her bridesmaids, it was time for her and Alex to see each other.

We led them to a quieter corner of the property, just far enough from the movement of the day that they could settle in. When they turned toward each other, everything slowed. No audience. No music. Just the two of them.

They read their vows privately and asked us to photograph it from further back. So we did. We stayed at a distance and let it unfold naturally. You could feel how present they were with each other. They weren’t thinking about anything else, just being there together.

One of the things we appreciate about Jorgensen Farm The Gardens is how many tucked-away spaces it offers. It makes it easy to create privacy without removing yourselves from the rhythm of the day.

Wedding Party Portraits at the Arboretum Building

The Arboretum building at Jorgensen Farm The Gardens is one of those spots that just works. The wood and glass, the way it sits against the greenery, the open space in front of it. It gives a large group room to spread out without feeling cramped.

Olivia and Alex had nine bridesmaids and nine groomsmen, so we needed a location that could hold everyone comfortably. Photographing them in front of the Arboretum kept things organized but still relaxed. No squeezing into tight corners. No awkward angles. Just everyone together, laughing, shifting, settling into it.

If you’re planning a wedding at Jorgensen Farms and have a larger wedding party, this is one of the easiest places to gather everyone without slowing the day down.

A Sunlit Garden Ceremony at Jorgensen Farm The Gardens

They were married in the side garden, with hydrangeas lining the space and new spring growth filling in behind them. The ceremony felt tucked into the property, not staged in front of it.

Only the maid of honor and best man stood beside them. The rest of the wedding party sat with the guests. It kept the front of the ceremony clear and brought everyone in a little closer.

The sun was fully out. Not dramatic light, just steady afternoon sun across the garden. You could hear birds in the background and guests shifting in their seats as Olivia’s brother began the ceremony.

Spring ceremonies at Jorgensen Farm The Gardens have a certain ease to them. The property does most of the work. The greenery, the open sky, the way the light moves across the space. You do not need much else.

Courtyard Cocktail Hour at Jorgensen Farms

After the ceremony, everyone drifted into the courtyard for cocktail hour. No big announcement. Just a natural shift from one space to the next.

The courtyard at Jorgensen Farms gives guests room to spread out. Some gathered near the bar. Others found small pockets of shade along the edges. It never gets crowded, even when the guest list is full.

Because we had already taken care of most of the portraits earlier in the day, Olivia and Alex were able to join cocktail hour instead of disappearing for an hour. This is something we talk through with couples often when we’re helping them build a wedding photography timeline that doesn’t feel rushed. It gives the day more space to breathe and lets you actually be present with the people you came to celebrate with.

That window between ceremony and reception can either feel rushed or relaxed. Here, it felt steady.

A Candlelit Reception in the Historic Barn

As the light outside started to fade, everyone moved into the historic barn at Jorgensen Farms. The shift from bright garden sun to candlelight was noticeable. The room felt lower and warmer, and voices carried differently inside the wood walls.

Dinner was served. Glasses clinked. Olivia and Alex stepped into their first dance while guests gathered close around the floor instead of staying seated. Parent dances followed, simple and unforced.

Later in the evening, they pulled everyone onto the dance floor by announcing a group photo. It worked. Within seconds the room was full, and no one really left after that.

Near the end of the night, Olivia and Alex came back into the barn for a private last dance. The room that had been loud minutes earlier felt completely still. Just the two of them in the same space where the whole celebration had unfolded.
