Joy-Filled Autumn Wedding at Ivory Meadows near Dayton, Ohio
Natalie and Joshua were married on a warm October afternoon at Ivory Meadows in Yellow Springs, Ohio. The sky was clear and bright, the fields surrounding the venue had just begun to turn, and the day unfolded with a calm, unhurried rhythm that felt true to who they are.
Ivory Meadows is one of those venues that allows a wedding day to breathe. With open land, thoughtful spaces, and abundant natural light, it creates room for meaningful moments to happen without forcing them. Natalie and Joshua’s wedding moved gently from quiet, prayer-filled preparation into a joyful outdoor ceremony and an evening of celebration surrounded by family and friends.
As Dayton wedding photographers, we’re always drawn to days like this, ones that feel intentional and grounded, where the focus stays on the people, the promises being made, and the shared experience of the day.
Getting Ready at Ivory Meadows
We arrived early to Ivory Meadows to photograph Natalie and Joshua’s details before coverage officially began. The bridal suite at Ivory Meadows is a beautifully decorated, cozy space for brides and their closest people, thoughtfully furnished with vanity mirrors and warm details that make it a comfortable place to gather and prepare.
For the specific look we were going for photographically, natural light and a bit more open space were important. Like many venues, the lighting at Ivory Meadows varies from space to space. The bridal suite itself is more intimate and softly lit, while the groom suite benefits from a south-facing window and stronger natural light. Knowing this ahead of time allowed us to plan intentionally and choose the best locations for each part of the day.
For Natalie’s final getting-ready moments, we moved to the covered, glass garage-door-style porch just outside the barn. This space offered soft, even light and gentle shade, which was especially important on a sunny October afternoon with very little tree cover on the property. Ivory Meadows is surrounded by open land, which is beautiful but can make shaded portrait locations harder to find as the day progresses.
Natalie was surrounded by her closest people as these moments unfolded. A bridesmaid buttoned the back of her dress, her niece helped with shoes, her mom placed the veil, and another bridesmaid finished things with a spritz of perfume and florals in hand. Using the porch allowed these moments to feel calm and unhurried while also creating images that feel natural and true to the day.
Joshua prepared nearby, where the light was more directional and contrast-rich, perfect for individual portraits and moments with his groomsmen. Throughout the afternoon, we continued to work intentionally with the venue’s layout, using the north-facing side of the barn for family photos and returning to shaded, covered areas whenever the sun became too strong.
Pre-Ceremony Portraits and a Prayerful Pause
Before the ceremony, Natalie spent time getting portraits with her ladies, individual bridal portraits, and special combinations with her VIPs; Joshua also took pictures with his groomsmen. The open landscape at Ivory Meadows creates a stunning backdrop for portraits, with rolling fields and trees beginning to show hints of autumn color.
Just before guests arrived, Natalie and Joshua paused with their closest people for prayer. While the ladies gathered in the bridal suite for prayer, the men were simultaneously praying over Joshua in his space. These parallel moments unfolded quietly and intentionally, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
An Outdoor Ceremony at Ivory Meadows
Natalie and Joshua’s ceremony took place outdoors beneath a clear October sky. Ivory Meadows offers a peaceful, open-air setting that feels both intimate and expansive, making it ideal for couples who want a nature-forward wedding without sacrificing elegance.
As Natalie walked down the aisle, a steady October breeze moved through the open landscape, adding motion to the moment while keeping the focus fully on her and Joshua. Their ceremony was heartfelt and personal, filled with meaningful words, shared faith, and a deep sense of presence. After the ceremony, they took time to soak in hugs and congratulations from family and friends, one of the most joyful parts of the day.
Cocktail Hour, Family Photos, and Fun Portraits
While guests enjoyed cocktail hour, we moved into family photos followed by wedding party portraits, allowing everyone to be present and relaxed before stepping away later in the day for newlywed portraits. The afternoon light at Ivory Meadows is especially beautiful in October, softening just enough to create dimension without harsh shadows.
These portraits felt relaxed and joyful, with space to breathe and simply be together. The open fields, blue sky, and subtle fall tones created a timeless backdrop that will never feel dated.
Reception and Celebration
The reception space at Ivory Meadows was transformed with long tables, soft candlelight, and thoughtful details that reflected Natalie and Joshua’s style. The evening began with grand entrances, followed by their first dance and parent dances, each moment unfolding naturally without feeling rushed.
After a prayer over the meal, guests enjoyed dinner, and then heartfelt and laughter-filled speeches.
Golden Hour Wedding Portraits at Ivory Meadows
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, we stepped outside with Natalie and Joshua for their golden hour portraits. Even earlier than sunset, the light was soft and warm, spreading evenly across the open fields and creating a quiet pause in the middle of the celebration. These moments felt unhurried and natural, giving them space to be together as newlyweds while the day gently shifted toward evening.
The night ended with a packed dance floor, a joyful last dance, and a send-off surrounded by cheering friends and family. It was the kind of ending that leaves everyone smiling and tired, but also deeply joy-filled.
Special acknowledgements
One of the things we love most about this work is getting to collaborate alongside so many talented, kind people, and Natalie and Joshua’s wedding was a perfect example of that. From the thoughtful coordination by Ashley and the Ivory Meadows team, who brought every part of the day together seamlessly, to the incredible storytelling by Sebastian and Lexi at Poveda Films, it was a joy to work alongside creatives who care deeply about their craft and their couples. The florals by Flowerman complemented the space beautifully, the food from Hudson’s Edge was genuinely excellent, and the desserts, including Natalie and Joshua’s personal cake from Sadie’s Cake and Nothing Bundt Cakes for guests, were a hit. As the night unfolded, DJ OhK kept the energy high and the dance floor full, turning the reception into a celebration that felt effortless and fun. Being part of an industry filled with people who bring both talent and heart to their work is something we never take for granted.
