Grand Teton National Park Engagement

Rebekah & David

Blending our love for the parks, in this case, Grand Teton National Park, with our love for the human connection in photography is when we feel we are able to create our most beloved works.

Sharing with Beka and David (for their engagement session) the wonder experience of a Tetons sunset, spotting wildlife in the distance, hearing gentle ripples on Jenny Lake, and smelling the sage brush in each silent breeze are just some of the things that made this session extra special. There’s something remarkable about sharing our witness of love with the grandeur of nature’s gifts.

At Grand Teton National Park in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, you can stand in a sage meadow literally at the base of the mountains and look up to a peak that towers nearly 7,000 ft above you (total elevation of the Grand is 13,776’). There are taller mountains in the Rockies range, but the stark difference between the valley and the summit here, makes the visitor feel nearly paralyzed in awe.

These distinct jagged peaks, with their prestine, shimmering lakes, are the jewel of the Rockies. And it’s because of the National Park system, and those who fight to protect it, that we have the prevelidge of experiencing them.

There’s a plaque in the Moose visitor center with an inscription from Franklin D. Roosevelt, which reads: “There is nothing so American as our national parks…The fundamental idea behind the parks…is that the country belongs to the people, that it is in process of making for the enrichment of the lives of all of us.”

This place belongs to us…to all of us. And for us, the parks feel like home. There’s no other place in our nation where we feel more deeply connected, more at peace, or have more joy.

For those who choose to visit, we implore you to join us in stewarding these national treasures well. If you’d like to partner in protecting these lands, you can start by giving to the National Parks Foundation here.
